How To Miss Out and How Not To
John 20:19-31
Have you ever missed out on something significant? It’s not a good feeling. Maybe you missed out on a big promotion because you didn’t show initiative at work. Now you regret it. You may have missed out on a new relationship - you were too scared to take a chance; besides, the person seemed too good to be true. You were certain it wouldn’t work out, but in the end you ended up missing out. Maybe you missed out on the right timing in real estate. You didn’t buy when it was low or sell when it was high. If only you had another chance. Those are nice, when you get them.
In this weekend’s services, we’ll meet a man named Thomas who missed out on something huge. On that first Easter evening Jesus appeared to his friends, but Thomas wasn’t there. He had skipped the meeting and missed out on the miracle. Fortunately, Thomas got another chance to see Jesus alive, and when he did, his life was changed.
We will not only look at Thomas as an example, we’ll also learn principles applicable to us all and be challenged by what we experience together.
