August 26 & 27, 2017A Repentant LifestyleRebuilt: Truths from Nehemiah to Build Your Life On, Part 9
This weekend we look at Nehemiah 9, which follows last week’s story of when God’s people heard God’s Word and wept because of the realization their sin separated them from the holiness of God. However, this grief occurred at the same time appointed for a prescribed feast. That’s why Nehemiah and other leaders exhorted the people not to weep at that time, saying “the joy of the Lord is your strength” (8:10). Now, after observing the Feast of Booths, the people gather again. This time they come fasting, clothed in sackcloth, and sprinkled with dirt as an expression of grief over their sins. Spiritual renewal involves an ongoing process - a lifestyle - of repentance. Spiritual renewal involves trust in God’s infinite mercy again and again. There are powerful lessons in Nehemiah 9 about a divine paradox; those who are filled with the joy of the Lord are those who regularly admit their failings before God. I look forward to sharing this message to you as a fellow sojourner and repentant Christ follower, as we are reminded of our need for God’s mercy and the price Jesus paid for our sins.Pastor John

August 18 & 19, 2017Pathway to Personal RenewalRebuilt: Truths from Nehemiah to Build Your Life On, Part 8
The primary lesson from Nehemiah isn’t how a leader inspired others to rebuild a broken city wall; it’s a lesson about restoring broken lives. We all experience times of spiritual stagnation. These are the times we desperately need personal renewal and revitalization. What are the keys to experiencing this in our lives? In this week’s message, we’ll examine the importance of God’s Word. Receiving and responding to Scripture was key to renewing the hearts of believers in Jerusalem years ago; it is key to personal renewal today!I’m excited for renewal at Dayspring and in my own life. I hope you are too.Pastor John

July 29 & 30, 2017The Practice of PeacemakingRebuilt: Truths from Nehemiah to Build Your Life On, Part 5
As the story of Nehemiah unfolds in the fifth chapter, we learn of internal strife. Sadly, some of the strongest opposition to God’s work isn’t from external forces, it’s from within the ranks of His people. All of us, leaders included, have a God-given responsibility to deal with sinful attitudes & behaviors in a manner that promotes real peace. God’s Word doesn’t leave us in the dark. We’re given instructions and examples of how it’s to be done. This week, we’ll examine the practice of a peacemaker. Nehemiah reveals timeless truths of how we can protect and preserve unity within our ranks by applying peacemaking principles. Pastor John
