Growing Up: Experiencing Life Change in Jesus
January 19, 2020
Would you consider yourself the kind of person who loves an adventure? I love to travel and am always looking for fun wherever my travels take me. Whether it’s a rollercoaster I haven’t ridden yet or an activity like skydiving or glacier climbing or parasailing…or just seeing something I haven’t seen before. There is so much to learn, so much to experience, so much to see as we adventure through life on this planet. But we are so much more than flesh and blood bodies, and our experience is so much more than just physical. Over the last couple of weeks here at Dayspring, we’ve been taking a look at what it means for us to be on a journey toward spiritual maturity. Much like our physical journey through life, there is so much to see, learn, and experience as we grow as believers, becoming more and more like Jesus. If you’ve missed the last couple of messages, I encourage you to take the time to listen to them. You can find them on our website or in Apple or GooglePlay Podcasts. Last week, we looked at where we’re headed or what we’re aiming for when we talk about spiritual maturity. This week, we’ll begin to assess where we're at, each of us individually, right now. Each of us is on our own unique journey. Sure, we’re traveling together, and our goal to move toward spiritual maturity is the same; but we’re each at a different mile marker along the way. Join us this Sunday as we help you discover where you are and what your next step should be.I’m Chris Voigt, Lead Pastor at Dayspring Fellowship in Keizer. I cannot tell you how excited I am about this new season we are beginning in our church. Walking with Jesus IS an adventure. And I’m pumped about adventuring together! Our church services are on Sundays at 9 and 10:45. We have incredible people, excellent programming for your kids and teens, and great coffee! We would be thrilled to have you join us this Sunday.

Spiritual Adulting
January 12, 2020
I don’t wanna grow up, I’m a Toy R Us kid…I think that jingle is seared into the mind of every adult. Oh, for the days of Tonka trucks, Lego kits, Nerf guns, and bike rides. Every now and then, it’s easy to look back with longing for that simpler, less complicated season of life. I mean, adulting is hard work! But would you really trade the privileges and benefits of being an adult for the limitations of childhood? Just as growing up physically brings new responsibilities and opportunities to our lives, growing up spiritually does as well. But what does that mean? What does the life of a spiritually mature Christ-follower look like? This Sunday, as we continue in our series, Growing Up, we’re unpacking what it means to be a spiritually mature believer. At Dayspring, we are embarking on a new discipleship journey. We’re committed to doing everything we can to help you take the next step, whatever that looks like for you, in your spiritual journey.
I’m Chris Voigt, Lead Pastor at Dayspring Fellowship in Keizer. I, along with our Pastoral Team and Elders, are excited about this new season in the life of our church. I can’t wait to see what God is going to do in my life, in your life, and the lives of all who are a part of our church family. Maybe you’re watching this and are just exploring the possibility of coming to church. We would love to have you visit us. Our services are at 9 and 10:45 on Sunday mornings. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. There is great programming for kids of all ages. And there are people here who would love to meet you help you get connected! This is a great time to plug in!
I also want to encourage you to check out our website. We have a great six-week class for parents beginning on Wednesday, January 22. The topic is Protecting Your Kids From Pornography. Technology in our world is changing rapidly, and it’s vital that we know how to protect the kids in our lives. The class is from 6:30 – 7:30 pm, it’s only $12 per family, and open to the public. If you’d like more information, or want to register, you can call the number at the bottom of the screen.
To find out more about Dayspring, check out our Facebook page, YouTube channel or website. And if you find something that encourages you, please follow us and share with others! And thank you for your interest in Dayspring! I hope we’ll see you on our campus soon!

Happy New Year! We’ve closed the book on 2019 and the yet-to-be-written pages of 2020 lay ahead of us. Around Dayspring, we are excited to see what God has in store for us as we walk together, following Jesus this year! We’re kicking off 2020 with a 4-week introduction to our brand new discipleship strategy. This Sunday, we’ll be taking a look at what spiritual growth ISN’T, and defining what it really IS. It’s vital that we’re all on the same page as we move forward in our spiritual growth. Each of us is on our own unique, individual journey with God, but we walk together as brothers and sisters in Christ, encouraging, challenging, and supporting one another. In order to do that effectively, we need to start with a common understanding of what we mean when we talk about spiritual growth and becoming spiritually mature. And that’s the goal…that we would all be taking steps toward spiritual maturity. My steps this year will most likely look different from yours. But what matters is that each of us takes steps toward becoming more of who God is calling us to be. If you are looking for a place to grow in your faith and relationship with Jesus, I invite you to visit us at Dayspring Fellowship. Our church family gathers on Sundays at 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. We have fantastic programming for kids of all ages, as well as opportunities for adults to connect in authentic community. You can find more information about Dayspring on our website, as well as by visiting our Facebook page or YouTube channel. I encourage you to make this the year that you say “yes” to pursuing Jesus.

Making an annual list of New Year's resolutions is an old tradition. By some accounts, it dates back to the ancient Romans, who customarily made a show of promising their mythological god Janus that they would behave better over the next 12 months than they had in the past 12.A study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology found that six months into the year, fewer than half -- 46 percent -- of resolvers were still keeping to their pledges. The fact is that only about 10% of people who make New Year’s resolutions successfully implement lasting change. So, what about you? Are you a resolution maker? A goal setter? A word-for-the-year chooser? Or do you just avoid all that new beginnings, clean slate stuff altogether?Whatever your take is on resolutions, for most of us, the beginning of a new year is a time for reflection; for taking a look back at what has been over the last 12 months and anticipating what lies ahead in the year to come. It can be a healthy and productive exercise if we approach it with a growth mindset; purposefully looking at where we’ve been, applying the lessons there are to learn, and taking the next steps in our journey.I’m Chris Voigt, Lead Pastor at Dayspring Fellowship in Keizer. This weekend at Dayspring, we’ll be taking a look back at our journey with God over the last year. We’ll revisit the studies we’ve done the last 12 months and take one more look at the lessons that God wants us to learn before we move into all that He has in store for us in 2020. We’ve been on an incredible journey together as a church. I’m looking forward to reflecting together, recounting God’s faithfulness to us, and anticipating what God is going to do in us in the year ahead.

"Peace."
What do you think of when you hear that word? The dictionary provides several definitions: the normal, non-warring condition of a nation, group of nations, or the world; an agreement to end hostilities and abstain from fighting; a stated mutual harmony between people; freedom from civil commotion and violence; to be or become silent. Words that are closely related to peace include reconciliation, unity, truce, tranquility, harmony, and calm.
Ephesians 2:14 says “For Christ himself has brought peace to us.” What does that really mean? If you look around you won’t find much peace. Peace in our country, in our world, in our neighborhoods, and perhaps even in our homes seems to be in short supply. So what does it mean that Jesus is our Prince of Peace? Where is it?
In this Christmas Eve message, we celebrate Jesus’ birth, and discover what the Bible means when it calls Him our Prince of Peace. We all long for it; Jesus offers it. Let’s unwrap this gift of peace together.

Well, the weather outside has certainly turned a bit frightful - and so is the news, the Keizer traffic, and my to-do list - but all that aside, there is so much about this season that really is delightful! If your holiday season has been a bit short on delight and overstocked with stress I want to encourage you today. As followers of Jesus, we have so much to celebrate! In a world that is overwhelmingly broken, filled with strife and struggle, we have HOPE! We have reason for joy! In Isaiah 9:2, we read, “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light – a light that will shine on all who live in the land where death casts its shadow.” In the gospel of John, Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”Author and pastor John Piper writes, The light of Christ is the brightness of God shining on the retina of the human soul.” It was a very dark time in Israel’s history when God sent His Son to bring light and hope to those who had none. But now, because of Jesus, we no longer have to wander in darkness; we have HOPE.I’m Chris Voigt, Lead Pastor at Dayspring Fellowship in Keizer. Throughout the month of December, we’ve been looking at some of the names for Jesus that we find in the Bible. This week we’re focusing on His title, Everlasting Father. Regardless of your “Dad” experience – good or bad - the word ‘father’ carries a lot of emotional weight. What thoughts come to mind for you when you hear that word? In this message, we take a closer look at what it means for us to have Jesus as our Everlasting Father…the kind who sees us where we are, knows the deepest thoughts of our hearts, and loves us unconditionally.

Well, in case you missed the memo… it’s December and Christmas is just around the corner! The holiday season can be a time of joy, fun, and celebration. But it can also be a season with added pressure, obligation, and stress. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all of the “extra” we feel so compelled to add to our calendars and to-do lists. There is too much to do, too little time, and not enough energy to do it all! Maybe you can relate. At Dayspring, we’re celebrating the Christmas season by taking a look at four of the names or titles for Jesus that we find in Scripture. This week, we’ll be looking at His title, “Mighty God.” In the book of Jeremiah, we read these words, “O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you! You show unfailing love…You are the great and powerful God…You have all wisdom and do great and mighty miracles…You see all.” In the midst of this busy season, what a comfort it is to know that we have a Savior who is all knowing, all powerful, and always present. And His presence, power, and wisdom are available to us as we walk with Him. Now that is something to celebrate!

Wonderful CounselorHe Will Be CalledDecember 8, 2019
We’ve rounded the corner into December; and as we all know, Christmas will be here... and gone... in a flash. It’s easy to get caught up in all of the hustle and bustle with gifts to buy, stockings to stuff, parties to attend, lights to see, presents to wrap, and cookies to bake -- and forget why we celebrate the day in the first place. This weekend at Dayspring, we’re starting a new series on four of the names for Jesus we find in scripture. My name Christopher means “Christ bearer” or “follower of Christ.” Seems appropriate, even if my parents didn’t intend it that way when they gave it to me! But it’s a far cry better than what my dad wanted to name me before they decided on that. The name Mary means “beloved;” Joseph means “May Jehovah add increase or bring blessing.” The name translated Jesus or Yeshua in Hebrew means “To deliver, to rescue.” In Isaiah 9, verse 6, one of the most well-known Christmas-related verses outside of the actual Christmas story, we read: For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. These prophetic names give us a small glimpse at the character of the promised Messiah, the one who came to deliver -- to rescue us from the power of sin and death. This week, we’ll be taking a look at the name Wonderful Counselor and what it means for us to have a Savior who knows our deepest pain and who brings healing to the sickness of our hearts.

The SignatureGalatians: Set Free to Live FreeDecember 1, 2019
As we come to the end of November and roll into the Christmas season, we are wrapping up our series in Galatians. Paul concludes his letter to the Galatian churches by reminding them one last time about the dangers of legalism and then giving them a final challenge. His words are as applicable for us today as they were for those young Galatian believers so many centuries ago.

A Gardening CommunityGalatians: Set Free to Live FreeNovember 24, 2019
I’m not really much of a gardener. I don’t even like to mow my lawn. In fact, I have someone who takes care of my yard, keeping it healthy and looking good for me. My father-in-law, though, loves flowers – growing them, caring for them, and arranging them. He enjoys puttering in the yard, cultivating beds and pots full of colorful beauty. It takes time, effort, and energy, but the results are definitely worth it! So it is in our lives as followers of Jesus. As we continue in our study of Galatians this week, the Apostle Paul begins to get very practical! What does it look like to live by the Spirit, to walk by the Spirit, to bear fruit by the work of the Spirit? In this message we look at the first half of Galatians 6 together to learn what it means, practically speaking, to cultivate a life that bears fruit and displays the beauty of Jesus to our families, to our brothers and sisters in Christ, and to our community.
