Greater | Part 4 | One and Done | Chris Voigt
Tuesday Jan 30, 2024
Tuesday Jan 30, 2024
We are studying our way through the New Testament book of Hebrews in a series we’ve called, Greater. This letter was written to Jewish Christ-followers who found themselves experiencing hardships that had them longing for the old days. “It would be so much easier if we could just go back to the way things used to be!” But God had called them to something… or Someone… greater.
We are all pulled, in one way or another to settle for comfort and convenience. But God is calling us to something greater. It won’t be easy or without risk. But He is worth it. Are you up for the challenge?

The Myth of Greener PasturesGreater: The Supremacy of Jesus Through HebrewsJanuary 21, 2024
We are studying our way through the book of Hebrews in a sermon series we’ve called Greater. The letter of Hebrews was written to encourage Jewish followers of Jesus who were at risk of forgetting all that they had received in Christ and returning to the comfort zone of the past. It’s a pull we all feel at one time or another.
In the world of human endeavor and achievement, there is always room for improvement. Our world is caught up in the endless pursuit of whatever is faster, farther, higher, or better. Forever in search of greener pastures, we seem never to be satisfied.
The author of Hebrews reminds us that in Christ we no longer have to strive for bigger, better, faster or farther. In Christ, we are whole, healed, complete, forgiven. There is no greener pasture to be found than the hope we have in Jesus. I hope you’ll join us this Sunday.

Catch Your Drift
Greater: The Supremacy of Jesus Through HebrewsJanuary 14, 2024
There is something appealing about the idea of just drifting along, going wherever the tide or breezes carry you. On the surface it sounds relaxing or refreshing. After all…navigating the demands of daily life is hard work. We can feel pulled in a million difference directions. Who wouldn’t welcome an opportunity to just float for a bit? And ‘a bit’ isn’t usually a problem. It’s when coasting or floating along becomes the norm that we run into trouble. Because sooner or later, without course corrections, the current will carry you into places you never wanted or intended to go.
Last week we started a brand-new series we’re calling Greater. For the next several weeks, we will be digging into the New Testament book of Hebrews. It’s a book that will give us a deep understanding of the superiority of Jesus and remind us that He is worth following, with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Following Him requires both intention and action. You won’t grow to be like Jesus by chance.

Bigger, Better, StrongerGreater: The Supremacy of Jesus Through HebrewsJanuary 7, 2024
We are kicking off 2024 with a brand-new series we’re calling Greater. Over the next 12 weeks, we will be diving deep into the New Testament book of Hebrews. It’s a book that will help us understand how Jesus is truly greater; greater than any person, any system or organization, greater than anything.
There is only One who is truly the Greatest of All Time. His name is Jesus. I hope you’ll join us as we get to know Him better.

What We Learned in 2023December 31, 2023
Jesus loved to tell stories. Storytelling was one of His go-to methods of helping His disciples better understand God and His plan for the world and their lives. Stories can move us, challenge us, inspire and encourage us. They can open our eyes to things that we otherwise might not see and our minds to possibilities that we might otherwise not consider.
Sunday, as we come to the end of 2023, we want to take a look back at some of the things that God has done. We’ll be sharing stories of how we’ve seen God work in our lives and in our church, what we have learned along the way, and how we’ve grown this past year.

Missing Peace | Part 4 | Disappointed With God | Chris Voigt

Disappointed By GodMissing PeaceDecember 24, 2023
We all have expectations about certain things. Your kids are counting on Santa to bring just what they want for Christmas, but you know “Santa’s” budget is too tight. You have holiday traditions that aren’t working out. Perhaps there’s a broken relationship that’s making this season hard, instead of happy. Or maybe you’ve been working towards a goal, but not seeing the success you anticipated. Attaching our hopes and happiness to people, plans, or possibilities is sure to leave us disappointed. So, as followers of Jesus, we’ve learned to put our hope, our trust, our confidence in God. But what do we do when He doesn’t come through like we thought He would? What happens when God is the One who disappoints us?
We’re just a few days away from celebrating the birth of Jesus, the One who has been called the Hope of the World. But there are many for whom this Christmas season is full of pain and disappointment. I invite you to join us this Christmas Eve as we celebrate the birth of Christ. We’ll be wrapping up our series, Missing Peace and taking an honest look at what to do with our broken dreams and unfulfilled hopes.
We all have plans, that we hope will work out perfectly. And when they don’t, it’s natural to be disappointed… even with God. But He can handle it. Even more than that, He can redeem it. It may be that He has something better in mind.

Why Do I Have To Wait?Missing PeaceDecember 17, 2023
It’s the Christmas season and as we anticipate the celebration of Jesus’ birth, we’re working our way through a series we’ve called, Missing Peace. I imagine that you, along with most everybody I know, struggles with waiting. Whether it’s waiting for a response to your email, or a call from the doctor, or long lines at just about every store, stoplight, or drive-thru this time of year. We don’t wait very well and it steals the joy right out from under us.
What if there is a gift to be found in anticipation? A blessing to receive in the waiting? It’s there, ready for you to discover it. I hope you’ll join us this Sunday.

You're Driving Me Crazy!Missing PeaceDecember 10, 2023
Luke 2 records the refrain declared by the host of heaven, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” But across centuries, continents, and cultures, no matter which corner of history we search, we discover an overwhelming deficit of peace. Certainly, even a quick scan of today’s headlines reveals a serious lack. So, did the angels get it wrong?
Perhaps the answer lies in where we’re looking. Could it be that instead of searching for evidence of peace around us, we must open our hearts to the gift of peace within us?
I invite you to join us as we continue our Christmas sermon series, Missing Peace.
It's been said that you can’t give what you don’t have. The peace the angels sang about begins within us, as we experience peace with God. And then it swells, deeper and stronger, as we extend it to those around us. It’s the kind of peace that can’t be shaken. It cancels fear, strengthens courage. Peace on earth, in your heart, your family, your community, is possible. It’s the promise of Christmas. Come join us this Sunday.

Is Peace Possible?Missing PeaceDecember 3, 2023
The holiday season is upon us. Thanksgiving has come and gone and Christmas is on the horizon. But when our newsfeeds continue to be filled with stories of international conflict, economic uncertainty, political division, death, disease, heartbreak, and loss, it’s hard to believe that the message of Christmas - peace on earth, goodwill to men - is even possible. The realities of our world kinda suck the holly-jolly right out of the season… if we let them.
In a world that is filled with pain, the possibility of peace seems almost out of reach. But the Bible tells us – promises us – that peace is available to us. And not just a fragile, momentary relief, but a perfect peace. The kind that can be ours when we focus our minds on what we know to be true; on what’s truer than the headlines, and truer than our heartaches. A kind of peace that surpasses our ability to understand. Peace that is found only in Jesus.
Do you have that kind of peace? Do you need it? Come join us this Sunday.

DON'T BLINK!- as the world burns -November 26, 2023
This Sunday, we’re continuing our look beneath the subject lines and rhetoric that fill our newsfeeds, to see what God’s Word has to say about the things happening in our world. We’re looking to gain a firmer grasp on what we can know for sure, and what we must confidently entrust to the sovereignty of God. Because in the midst of the chaos, one thing is certain: it is very easy to become distracted by the to-do lists, the deadlines, disappointments or even our own desires, and miss what God is doing around us or even in us.
In the midst of an incredibly busy and often distressing world, it’s important that we know what matters most and how to keep it in clear view. Some things are too important to miss. Let’s make sure we don’t.
